D.G. and W.B. Bacon Company account book, 1857-1867.

The collection consists of a ship agent's account book / ledger for the D.G. and W.B. Bacon Company. The ledger is a large calf bound folio kept by the sons of Captain Daniel C. Bacon of Bacon Farm in Barnstable Village. Many well-known ships are mentioned including the "Game Cock" and the "Vancouver". This is a rare piece of Cape Cod maritime history showing the numerous ventures the Bacon family participated in. The ledger covers the years 1857-1867. Many of the ventures are in vessels bound for China. The ledger lists the names of ships, names of owners of ships, sales, transactions, notes payable, interest, cash, etc.
